History of World Cinema-2

A HISTORY OF WORLD CINEMA, PART 2.

We continue from last year’s course and cover the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s. Having taken Part 1 of this course last year is not a prerequisite for Part 2. Many different countries played significant roles in the development of film and we will focus mostly on the world beyond Hollywood. The course will follow closely the TV series by Irish filmmaker and critic, Mark Cousins titled The Story of Film . We’ll examine, mostly from a director’s point of view, changes in film technique and content. We’ll assess a wide range of clips and a few complete films from this period. We’ll include clips and films from Bergman, Bresson, Fellini, Godard, Polanski, Allen, and many others.
