Your Immune System

YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM IN HEALTH AND ILLNESS

This course will unveil the inner workings of your remarkable immune system. Learn how the immune system can identify and destroy almost any type of foreign pathogen, yet be indifferent to the normal cells, molecules and microbiota of the body. Discover MHC proteins - our master immune surveillance system - that influence your resistance to disease, tolerance of organ transplants, and predisposition for immune pathologies. And explore how our defenses against infectious disease, toxic substances and cancer, are linked to a variety of immune-related topics, including disease immunity, autoimmune disorders and allergies, celiac disease and irritable bowel syndromes, vaccines and cancer immunotherapy, as well as immune deficiencies and AIDS.
